While much of my work focuses on traditional photographic subjects – architecture, landscapes, everyday objects – the specific subject matter of each image can be rather disparate.

And yet there is a visual and tonal consistency to much of it. I tend to shoot much of my work in a manner and with a sense of composition that keeps the viewer’s gaze slightly off balance, and that imbues the everyday with a sense of visual disquiet. Architecture (and architectural details) are often photographed at odd and sometimes unsettling angles, and are frequently shot in the harsh light of midday. Windows and sculpture are shot through with ominous shadows. The resulting images focus on aesthetically beautiful or interesting structures, but also suggest an underlying sense of unease – a sense of deep disquiet in the everyday.
